Gesundheit! is the web presence of

Janelle Zimmerman, RN, BA. That sounds a lot more imposing than it actually is. I used to think of myself as some sort of expert, but that turns out not to be true. I’m actually a regular person who happens to be a nurse and loves to learn and likes to write and maybe has some sort of gift for teaching…. And quite definitely I don’t have anything all figured out!

The grace of God, gallons of caffeinated drinks, and way too much stress, got me through nursing school (Reading Area Community College, graduated in 2016) and then through a fancy bachelor’s completion program that combined nursing and sociology (Millersville University, 2018). So I am officially permitted to sign my name followed by both RN and BA. Most of the time, I don’t bother. But those are my official credentials, in case someone was wondering.

I used to have a fancy mission statement that was filled with words a business coach thought I should use. And while there is nothing wrong with fancy mission statements, and I might even write another one some day, right now I’m just an ordinary woman musing about life and learning about what it really means to be healthy in body and soul and spirit.

Some Things I Believe Are Important

People. I believe people matter. In some mysterious way that stumps even brilliant philosophers and theologians, God made us in his image and put something inside that doesn’t die. I have a hard time wrapping my brain around this, but it means that every person I meet matters to God, and so that’s kind of a big deal.

Integrity. Being the same all the way through and not being fake. This matters too. In fact, I’m beginning to suspect that it matters a lot more than I realized it does, so some of what I write about here is going to reflect that.

Health. When we are healthy, we function the way we are supposed to. When we are sick, we don’t. I think its really important that we function well, because every person has some unique things that only they can do and be, and sickness gets in the way of that.

God. God is important. Like bedrock, air-we-breathe, can’t-live-without kind of important. Learning to know Him and experience life with Him has been the biggest adventure of the last few years, and its really why I’m doing what I’m doing here.
